Spot watered. Laying off the fertilizer. I lost two new canes of the coccinea as it has been cooler and wet that past few days. They began to rot at the bottom of the cane. I removed them. The larger, woodier canes seemed fine. I was told to be careful of overwatering this one, I see why.
The orange and coral colored bougainvillea are just busting out all over. The purple bougies has suffered from defoliation in the past few weeks. mmm..
I think your B. coccinea is just acting normal. For no obvious reason, mine will loose a mature cane or two every so often and new ones will shoot up from the root ball. With the onset of the cooler Florida weather, mine are really put on a show with their bright pink flowers.
ReplyDeleteI noticed while watching that Vanilla Ice rehab house show, numerous large B. coccinea were planted in the front planting beds of the Wellington home. Full sun so I'm sure they didn't last very long....looked great for the final show shots...
