Cattleya Lost Tag #2407 Orchid

My ebay-- impulse buying  while watching Doc Martin
It seems I've overwatered trichoglottis, some of the leaves have a shrivel to them. However, it may have been the neem I sprayed midday (they were all shaded). So much to learn, I see the spectre of a broken heart of the inexperienced orchidist..

Coming soon....Orchid (Bulbophyllum laxiflorum )#3 sweetly fragrant

    1. Beautiful flower. Over my horticulture career, I've noticed the most successful amateur orchid growers tend to be the ones who (1) own many plants and (2) tend to neglect their plants (water, fertilizer, re-potting). Number two is the result of number one. I don't mean to criticize, you're plants look great. Many studies have shown high levels of N in plant tissue make them more susceptible to disease and insect attack. It does encourage growth but too much N has negative consequences.

    2. Thank you for the comment, and that seems to be the general concensus on successful orchid growing. Being close to the ocean and in am/pm southern sun, I'm concerned about the vanda roots drying out. The mounted and potted plants I will think twice before applying what might be excessive water/ food. Thanks.
